It is a simple symbol of childhood, freedom, and a moment of joy in a place where war has stolen almost everything from them. Yet even this small act of innocence has been portrayed as a threat.

+These words are horrifying because they speak not about military targets alone, but about bombing places even when they are inside civilian neighborhoods—and invoke the destruction of Berlin in 1945 as a model.

+Behind every neighborhood are families. Behind every window is a child. Behind every destroyed home are parents who simply wanted their children to survive.
